Street Fonts

We were asked to seek out around 20 examples of interesting typography. I started with few photos and will add more information, like description and my opinions.

*♥*

I am actually fan of bright lights, flames and shining letters. Here they making cozy atmosphere and invites you to come inside the hospitality place :D  And also I think that warm colours and shine associates with flame and fire on the instinct level.

During this evening and night walk I understood that it's interesting to research about visual changes of logos from day to the night time.

I like the way how letters going zebra style in case of jalousie

Just warm colours which reminds me something Mediterranean

I'm repeating, but I think it's one of the most effective ways to design the restaurant or etc, place where people will eat) Warm colours (orange, red, yellow) in conjunction with dark brown - and it will be cozy

Letters lovely reflects street lights.

Difference between background texture and letters surface works, it looks stylish and expensive.

Look, it's so smooth and plastic of the letters looks imposingly and stylishly !

Oh, yeah! I looked up and saw an example of lighting sing :)

Hello Borough market ! From this angle I founded this type interesting and actually like it!

Piece of handcraft. Be careful, Little Londoners :D

Actually it's boards near the Borough Market where guys selling food at the day time. Their work must be boring , so they started to draw :) This dog reminds me Snoopy

There is nothing unusual in the font, but I found the angle at which light is reflected so cool !)

Ok, here is POD. I like the way how it reflects in the windows of the building on the opposite side of the street.

:)

boq ?

Simple. Clear. In my blog.
Nothing superfluous, everything is accurate. I like the graphic.

Here as well. When you are looking closer - you can see how it's reflects.

Like this, hmm

And here the shadow letters appears on the closed blinds on the back

Piece of street on the windows of the shop. I like also transparent things, like glass, I think it's quite useful.

Like the shadows which appears near the letters >:8)

One of my favorite logo on the streets, I don't know why, I like the plastic of the letters, okey. But maybe it's because 'drug' on Russian means friend and I'm always reading it like Superfriend ? :D

And this adorable star :) I love stars at all, as I understood

BONUS !

I find Earth Wallbook :) enjoy.
It's near MoreLondonPlace (London Bridge tube station)

Something wrong, I can't add comments now, will edit it later, have fun with photos.

The Museum of Everything / Kemistry gallery

On Friday our group met on the Chalk Farm station and we went to the Museum of Everything. Sounds interesting, isn't it ? :)
Entrance

You are not allowed to taking pictures inside the museum! Penalty = Death ! :D
I just took one shot inside : Guest book

Sticky stamp

In the beginning there are few curved mirrors and after them you can see corridor with photos of unusual people on the walls (Giant and Midget poster) I think it's kind of way to show that it doesn't matter how you looks visually and the main thing is inside, the personality. And also you are laughing at yourself in the curved mirror and then you go next, and this people can't go anywhere, they are unusual (c) always.

Then I was impressed by dolls part of the exhibition ! It's kind of piece of childhood for everybody - because there were a lot of really different kind of dolls, for boys and girls as well.

Then was room where shells was everywhere ! On the walls, roof. And there were also a lot of sculptures made from shells :)
Big hall with 60's circus posters was good. I like the style of the works and colours as in the room upstairs, with pictures of big ships and circus pony.
Next room - really enjoyed the aquarium with toads which doing athletic exercises :) Tho-headed lamb waxwork remembering us times when it was fantastic. (epoch which is fine for description the whole museum - 60's-70's.)
The house that Jack built
In the end someone from staff put on the copy of amusement park in the end of the exhibition! It was awesome, everything was flashing, loud music was playing and everything remains like dark circus. In my conclusion I can suggest that it's like of collection of people's phobias and weird (read = unusual) things.

After museum, on the way to the Uni I heard few people that it was like horror , with child dolls and circus clowns.

After this it was Introduction in to In Design in the Uni.

Then I decided to visit exhibition in the Kemistry gallery.
(Charlotte Road, Old Street tube station (North line))

Great video !!!

enjoy the photos!

Reminds me old boxes for keeping different wood and metal letters between printing process.

Description of the exhibition

Part of the big work

CBS

Reminds me Pacman style)

Ha-Ha-Ha (c) It's popular to laugh at everything from the artwork , isn't it?)
Art Director & Designer: Louis Dorfsman, Designer: Alphonso Amato, Artist: John Pistilli, Copywriters: Louis Dorfsman, Robert Strunsky, Alphonso Amato

Russian literature classics..

..in their Self-Impressions

I like this work! It's actually 3D, so, boxes are real and just the background is flat. And it's actually reminds me about our group work in the Uni, where our client was environmental charity with message - Buy less! I think it's good illustration for what will be if you are on 'Busy Market'

And this one is great as well. Typography in 3D, mm)

Work looks like alphabet for blind people..

...and consists of the Food-words >:{

I like the graphics, easy hand, one-line style..

...and shapes, black and white balance in composition.

Lou Dorfsman.
Creativity is essentially a lonely art.

This is one of the favorite one, for the first look I thought that it is made with pen, and then I read that it's screenprint. And actually it's first screeprint in my photoshoot from this exhibition.

come a bit closer to see the technique

I like it , because it looks weird.
And also, the title work is together, and we can see 2 heads here, 2 persons. But then you can see 6 legs, which is show us 3rd person.
3 persons can be together, okey. But I think that this work has it's own hidden idea.

Some artworks are simple for the first view but you like them just. Just like.

Tube map in the heart.

Originally it's a poster. Really cool!

Ohh, it's kind of new epoch style touch, smiles! I think if founders of Skype include this faces for their interface - they will have great success ! :)

And the last one for today. Thanks for watching!
it's possible that post will 'grow up'
Here is a video from 2001 on the history of the CBS logo, in which Lou Dorfsman is interviewed:
